Screwing around with timelines

by Eric Millikin

I’ve been making comics as timelines, and timelines as comic navigation. Check this out:

Date-based navigation works best obviously for date based comics — diary comics, comics about current events, historical comics, etc.

Or time travel comics … Futurist comics …

Can the futurist comics send me to the time when this Flash file is done loading?

  2. Eric Millikin Says:

No, only you can improve your connection speed. Or fight forest fires.

Did it center justify the blog as well?

    That’s some serious tech there.

  4. Joey Manley Says:

The Flash file hasn’t loaded for me yet either, and did center-justify the blog! Yeeks! I fiddled with the stylesheet to fix the problem on some of the other posts, but I’m baffled as to what’s going on.

Weird — it looks like a 60k file that loads quickly even her eon my girlfriend’s slow circa 2002 PC.

    It’s also at http://www.circavie.com/timelines/3e022d64-b92f-571e-82de-3dba0ce5a46a

Feel free, Joey, to link to that and get rid of the embed if the embed is screwing things up.

Everything worked fine for me. I liked the interface and was suprised to see a painting/comic I had never seen before. (Chainsaws Rock!)

A total thumbs up from me.

Thanks kamisama — it’s a total thumbs up on my side, too.

What browsers/systems are you all running where it never loads?

  8. Joey Manley Says:

    Firefox.

The Flash loading circle just keeps spinning.

Hey there, sorry for the inconvenience, I think I may have accidently slipped in some bad characters in the embed markup for the timeline that wordpress/firefox doesn’t like too much. Try removing all “newline” characters from the embed code that you copied and pasted into your wordpress entry. I think a line break slipped into the long hex “timeline ID” so for some it won’t load for some.

e.g. paste all on one line. I will be sure to fix the website in the next code drop. Appreciate you taking the time to play around with the beta.

A related post about the Wordpress/Circavie embed issue. FWIW. http://carlhutzler.com/blog/?p=132

    Working now!

  12. Eric Millikin Says:

Solid. Joey, in ALL YOUR FREE TIME you should write something that uploads my entire archive to this …
