At least they’re not asking you to create new, original characters and concepts and hand them over for a pittance and a page rate and a promise of a movie deal someday, maybe. So there’s that.

The prize would indicate that … except they mention breaking into comics, and throw out some names that the typical (presumably) teenaged reader of Archie comics wouldn’t know. How many 13-year-old Betty & Veronica fans who pick up the digests at Wal-Mart give a hoot about Neal Adams’ or Mark Waid’s career trajectory? That part was aimed squarely at the people who want to write The Avengers someday …
